To repeat, we give credence to the latter version that Ahmad Khan succeeded his father and after a short reign did in the life time of Emperor Jahangir. A quarrel arose between Adam Khan and Abdal Khan for succession to the throne.

In pursuance of this he ousted Adam Khan who fled to Delhi to seek redress at the Imperial Court of his brother-in-law, Jahangir. Abdal Khan lost no time in punishing the chiefs of Shigar and Khaplu for their sympathy with Adam Khan. All the eleven brothers of Hassan Khan, Raja of Shigar, were butchered and Hassan Khan could hardly manage to escape to Delhi. Shah Behram of Khaplu was also killed and among other his sister was taken prisoner and forced to lead a life of misery and destitution. In the folk lore, ‘Shah Behram Cho,’ the princess of Khaplu speaks of the degraded position to which she had been reduced. From this song it becomes clear that Shah Behram of Khaplu was a contemporary of Abdal Khan of Skardu and that the one bearing the name of Behram Cho who helped Sultan Saeed of Kashghar in 1532 A.D.during his invasion of Shigar did not belong to Khaplu. Hashmatullah seems to have been misled by interested people. The folk lore is to the effect:-

5.       NI MINGMO NA SHAH BEHRAM CHOI TUS LA ATI THORSE KHARI GYALMO WO MASONG FI GYUDPA LUS.

6.       DE MIZOS NA CHO ABDA KHANI YA TUS LA DE SKARDWE KHARING YA KHROM OA BIZBANUE MASONG INA ASHE MINGMO.

YARI THOQNA ASHE SKOR HAI LE ROZI CHAN NI SHAH BEHRAM CHO.
